Lauren's Trip To New York

Lauren had a backpack and a small suitcase for a four-day trip.
What an efficient packer!
Posing with her sisters, who had no problem getting up at 4:30 a.m.
We tracked both of Lauren's flights. This is the one into La Guardia.
Here's a second flight tracker we used.
Check out their flight plan (white line), as compared to the original one (dotted blue).
All of this early morning excitement put Emily back to sleep later on.

First 20 Seconds

You only have to watch the first 20 seconds to see a familiar face.
A second cameo is 1:36:00 in (at the end of the stage).

Amgen Tour of California: Random Pics

Ready to roll with the BMC Racing Team car.
Kelly Mason and I were hammering away on Twitter.
Andria (left) and Kelly were two of the Pacific Crush cyclists who spent
much of one morning with the BMC Racing Team.
I believe Bob Cullinan shot this photo of me. I was pretty stressed.
Cathy Mehl posed with me before one of the stage finishes.
Here's my BMC urbanchallenge UC01. Sweet ride.
I think this was also taken by Bob Cullinan before a stage start.

Skate Night With Julia

Julia and I posed for a photo when our legs were too sore to skate.
Julia asked me earlier this week if we could go ice skating. I told her, "absolutely." Of course, I had no idea at the time that Taylor Phinney was going to win Stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia. That created some serious constraints on my free time. But I was determined to make it work.

Bridget looked up the skating schedule and found out there was an open skate that night (Saturday). So Julia and I made plans and dropped hints that it was going to be a good time. But when the moment came to leave the house for Tranquility IcePlex, none of her sisters wanted to join us. They were certainly going to miss out.

We arrived on a 90-degree night wearing all kinds of cold weather gear. But it came in handy immediately, as the chill at the rink was considerable. Standing in line to purchase admission and get skates, Julia told me we were actually in the "concessions line." She said we'd get our skates inside the rink area itself. So we ventured in and I followed her to the window to get our skates. And that's all we did. No admission was paid and no wristband was handed out. That's because we quickly figured out that we skipped the admissions part. Oops.

We had a nice time skating around the rink for more than an hour, avoiding all the teenage crowd. It was an even better night when we decided to stop for ice cream at Maggie Moo's afterwards.
